Geothermal Wai-O-Tapu & Waimangu Volcanic Valley

Explore Wai-O-Tapu thermal wonderland – spectacular nature, stunning geothermal activity and unforgettable vistas, and erupting Lady Knox geyser daily at 10.15am.

The Waimangu geothermal system, created by the eruption of Mt Tarawera (burning cliffs) on 10th June 1886, is the newest geothermal system in the world. The valley features rare and unusual plants, regenerating native forest, and the world’s largest hot water spring – Inferno crater – a window down to the earth’s molten core.

Both geothermal landscapes are different and very unique.

We collect you from your accommodation and, en route from Rotorua, view our largest man-made forest(Kaiangaroa),scenic vistas over some of our farms, and Mt Maungakakaramea (Rainbow Mountain) scenic reserve.

Both Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu have restrooms and cafés.
